Hi, I'm Ilana!
I work with children of all ages — whether they are already connected to the Regional Center or just getting started.
If your child is part of the Early Start program with Regional Center, or receiving services through the Lanterman Act, you may qualify for far more than the basics — including sports, art, swimming, tutoring, and other activities that help your child thrive.
Many families don’t even realize this option exists.
As an Independent Facilitator, I help you navigate the Self-Determination Program (SDP) step by step — exploring options, building a plan that reflects your child’s unique strengths, and connecting you with resources that make a real difference.
Not yet enrolled with the Regional Center? I can help you get started with that too.
🌟 You’re in the driver’s seat.
The Self-Determination Program (SDP) gives families more choice and control over their child’s Regional Center services.
🎨 You design what works best.
Choose supports that truly fit your child — like art or music lessons, swimming, tutoring, social skills coaching, or activities that build confidence and independence.
⚖️ Grounded in the Lanterman Act.
This California law guarantees the right for individuals with developmental disabilities to lead self-directed, fulfilling lives.
💰 Funded through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
The same funds that would normally go to traditional Regional Center programs become your child’s individual budget.
🤝 You build your own support team.
With help from an Independent Facilitator and Financial Management Service (FMS), you decide who to hire and how to use your budget.
🌈 For all kinds of learners and abilities.
If your child qualifies for Regional Center services — for example, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disability, or similar conditions — you can explore SDP. Even children who spent time in the NICU may be eligible for Early Start or Regional Center services, depending on their developmental needs.
💫 It’s about empowerment and possibility.
SDP helps you create a plan that reflects your child’s strengths, goals, and future — not a one-size-fits-all system.
💸 No cost to families.
All services are fully funded through your child’s Self-Determination Program (SDP) budget — there’s nothing you pay out of pocket.
🏛️ Funded by the State of California.
The program is funded through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and administered by your Regional Center.
📊 Your child has an individual budget.
Every participant in SDP receives a budget based on what the Regional Center would typically spend on traditional services.
🤝 Independent Facilitator fees are included.
My services are paid directly from your child’s budget through your Financial Management Service (FMS) — not by you.
🔍 Transparent and simple.
All payments are handled within your approved SDP plan, ensuring full accountability and peace of mind.
🌟 Focus on your child, not the costs.
The program removes financial barriers so you can focus on creating meaningful, personalized supports for your child’s growth and goals.
